The EU's "Second Cycle of Technical Assistance" under Horizon Europe aims to support ports, fisheries, and island communities in restoring oceans and waters. Selected projects receive feasibility studies and tailored expert support across environmental, economic, and regulatory aspects. Applicants must be in designated "Mission Lighthouses" basins, and up to three projects per country can be selected, with exclusions for Italy and Croatia. This assistance provides technical insights rather than financial support, helping projects assess viability and readiness for scaling.
Mission Ocean and Waters is working to restore the health of our ocean and waters by 2030. This mission is designed to deliver on the European Union’s 2030 targets for protecting and restoring ecosystems and biodiversity, for zero pollution, and for the decarbonisation and reduction of net greenhouse gas emissions towards climate-neutrality, within the EU’s Ocean, seas and waters.
